About Allan

With 13 years of experience in design, I’m a Singaporean product designer currently focusing on an individual contributor role. I’m hands-on in UX thinking and UI execution, able to lead and execute squad work with PMs and Devs directly, whether it’s diving into specific edge-case logic, UX enhancement proposals, or shaping upstream product concepts.

I have also have past managing team experience when I was in UOB, leading research and UI implementation for 4 designers working on onboarding and payments, and have also grown a team of 12 designers for localisation to Indonesia, for requirements planning and prioritisations.

In my previous career life, I was an award-winning designer / art director in several design agencies, I bring a cross-functional mindset that bridges UX, growth campaigns, branding, through a full user journey lens. My clients was Samsung, Singtel, P&G, Energizer, where most works are digital websites and online campaigns.

I’ve worked in both mature industries like banking and fast-moving, tech-first companies, giving me the ability to adapt and help organizations scale across different stages. I also run design innovation workshops with senior leaders from time to time.

Specialized in emerging tech, finance, crypto, and web3. Open to both individual contributor and leadership roles.

Roles

Oct 2022 to present - Senior Product Designer at OKX
Individual contributor role. As the sole designer for over a year for P2P squad, handled all design requirements, user feedbacks and validations, bugs and also initiated various project together with PMs. Another year working in Compliance squad, AML, as well as worked on internal operations/agents platform. A variety of projects such as specific edge cases, as well as a few zero-to-one projects.

Oct 2017 to Sept 2022 – Design Lead at United Overseas Bank (UOB)
First 2 years worked on building up a new base for our TMRW app from scratch, worked on dashboard, payments, and designed the City of TMRW, a gamification saving product. Next 2 years as design lead for 4 headcounts, working on payments and onboarding. Also managed 11 head counts for localisation into Indonesia market. And the last project I shipped was for UOB Wealth programme, which I designed as individual contributor.

Oct 2019 to Sept 2022 – Adjunct Lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic
Evening part-time lecturer for Specialist Diploma in User Experience & Digital Product Design while I was with UOB, teaching UX, figma software and design systems through a practical design thinking approach.


Late 2017- Design Lead at 360F consultancy
Designed a proprietary wealth planner platform for this consultancy for various buy-ins from insurance/wealth companies.

2016 to 2017 – Senior Art Director at GOVT
Designed for digital campaigns for MINI Cooper, Nescafé, and the National Gallery Singapore, focusing on long-term brand building and scalable content systems. Executed an physical experiential booth event for Häagen-Dazs, delivering a seamless customer journey with strong user engagement and acquisition results.

2014 to 2016 – Digital Art Director at Wunderman Singapore & Shanghai
Designed for various website revamps such as Pantene, Energizer, Schick websites, focusing on product education, needs matching, and conversion to purchase. Also launched several growth campaigns for Safra and Pantene, supporting both brand visibility and customer acquisition strategies.

2012 to 2014 – Junior Art Director at Cheil Worldwide
Was mainly on Samsung projects, designed a safe driving app that got featured on CNN. Various growth campaigns for Samsung. Also on Audi’s website retainer and Singtel, NCS projects.

Mid 2012 – Brand designer at Sentient Partners
Mainly a branding agency did a few branding packaging projects for Kirin, Energizer and Brands.

Other interests

I follow new tech and crypto stuff closely. Outside of tech, i play tennis, do pilates and DJ remixes.
